How to Add An Optic to your PSA Dagger - PSA Quick Tip

Hey guys, welcome to another quick tip by Palmetto State Armory. Today, we're going to show you how you can outfit your Dagger with an optic. So let's jump right in. So before we get into installing the optic onto the slide, there are a few things we need to do.

First is going to be making sure that the slide is removed from the frame and we have a flat surface to work on. That's just going to make life a lot easier for us in the long run.
Next, let's make sure we have the right slide for our purposes. Today we're going to be using the Vortex Venom red dot with a 6MOA dot. So we need to make sure that we have the doctor's cut slide.

This will fit in most Vortex optics out there that are designed for handguns. Now, if you're using a Trijicon RMR footprint, make sure you choose the RMR cut, check out the description below. We'll have a brief description of all the optics that we know will fit each slide.

Now let's get this optic mounted. In front of me is everything you'll receive with your side, regardless of whether you get the doctor's cut or the RMR cut.

Mounting the Optic

The first step is going to be identifying the correct screw set. With this being a Vortex Venom, we're going to be using part number four. So we're going to go ahead and isolate those screws from the rest so that way we don't confuse them. Next, we're going to make sure that we line up the optic correctly onto the slide. Using these two little posts, we're going to line them up on the front holes on the optic. We'll set the optic down on the slide, and now we're ready to get the screws in place. It doesn't matter which side you start with, just to make sure that you don't tighten them down all the way. We'll get the first screw started making sure threads line up correctly. We'll get the second one in.

Before we tighten it down all the way, we'll just give it a double check just to make sure nothing shifted. And everything's still in place. Everything still looks good. So now we can tighten it down. One thing you can do, if you want is to add a little bit of thread locker to these screws. Remember a little bit goes a long way, and you don't want to use any type of thread locker that will require heat to remove it.

PSA Dagger Assembly & Inspection

Now that we've got the optic on, let's get the whole thing back together and inspect our work. Now let's cover a few final things while this is going back together.

Number 1, while you're doing this, this is a great opportunity to go ahead and swap out a few components on your firearm.

Number one is going to be the barrel. It's really easy to swap these out and if you're going to be using a suppressor or just want a more aggressive-looking profile for the firearm. A threaded barrel is a great way to go, as well if you're going to be using an optic, you want to make sure that you have suppressor height sites if you want to be able to maintain the use of your iron sights. So we'll swap these out later on and we'll show you how to do that.

Last but not least, we want to make sure that we covered the slides again. It's important to remember that depending on the optic you choose, you're going to need to get the corresponding slide.

So remember if you're going to be using a Vortex type optic that uses a doctor's cut. You want to get a doctor's cut slide.
If you're going to be using a Trijicon, you want to make sure that you get the RMR cut slide.
