The process requires high-quality brass with consistent neck wall thickness. The bushing size is calculated either by subtracting 0.002 - 0.003 inches from the loaded neck diameter or by doubling the neck wall thickness, adding bullet diameter and subtracting 0.001 inches. RCBS recommends reloaders keep bushings just above and below the ideal size for maximum flexibility.
