In collaboration with American defense manufacturing, iRayUSA has developed the PICTAIL and MQD, which bring together ADM's top-tier picatinny mounting solution and a pioneering, lighter and quicker dovetail design for swift helmet transitions. The PICTAIL mounting system unites a standard dovetail shoe, commonly utilized for helmet-mountable night vision optics, with the MIL-STD-1913 picatinny rail found on weapons platforms. This combination of mounting formats results in a system that offers enhanced accuracy and versatility on a rifle, while retaining full dovetail capabilities for helmet use. The PICTAIL is fully compatible with standard dovetail receptacles used in helmet mounting interface hardware provided by manufacturers like Wilcox, KVC and others. Complementing the dovetail aspect of the PICTAIL shoe, there's the MIL-STD-1913 picatinny rail, specially designed with a single slot that interfaces seamlessly with the ADM MQD mount. Working together, the PICTAIL and MQD mount achieve an adaptable setup on any standard picatinny rail. When utilized as a standalone optic, they create a rear offset of over 4-1/2 inches. When reversed for clip-on mode, the MQD and PICTAIL reduce the rear offset to just 1-1/2 inches. In clip-on mode, a mere 4 rail slots ahead of a day optic are needed for the necessary forward rail space, making the PICTAIL and MQD the perfect match for compact platforms like SBRs and pistols.
