The Brownells firing pin removal tool serves as an auxiliary hand for extracting the firing pin from Remington and Ruger bolt-action rifles, ensuring no parts are lost and preventing finger strain. To use, insert the appropriate bushing for your rifle into the tool body. Attach the firing pin assembly to the bushing and tighten the threaded steel shank to compress and secure the mainspring. The hollow shank safeguards the firing pin tip as it slides over the pin to compress the spring. Once the spring is compressed, use a punch to drive out the cross pin and gradually loosen the shank to release the spring tension. Note that this tool is incompatible with Ruger left-handed actions.
