In this range demonstration, PSA compares supersonic and subsonic ammunition using .300 Blackout to highlight the audible differences when shooting suppressed. Supersonic rounds, traveling around 2,000 fps, produce a distinct “crack” from breaking the sound barrier. Subsonic rounds, traveling near 1,000 fps, eliminate that crack and provide significantly quieter performance when paired with a suppressor. The demonstration reinforces that subsonic ammo is ideal for suppressed shooting, while supersonic rounds are better suited for unsuppressed use.
